Barr Lake State Park

Mom took me someplace new today - Barr Lake State Park. This park has a nature reserve area (that pets aren't allowed in) and a part that has a boating dock. The trail around the lake is over 8 miles, but we just did a couple of miles. It may be fall on the calendar, but it was 90 degrees today and there's very little shade on the trail.

This is one of Mom's favorite parks because it has over 300 kinds of birds. I'm not sure I believe her because we didn't see hardly any birds. But we did see lots of these:
The water in the lake was very low. It's the end of the season and most of it has evaporated. In the spring the water comes practically up to the trail.

We also saw some things I've never seen before. Mom said the little fuzzy one is called a woolly worm. What a funny name! The big one is called a horse. I have a horse pal on twitter, but I didn't know horses were this big and that a person could ride one.
There's more pictures. You can see them here: Barr Lake State Park. And here's a video. The video is just leaves, but listen real hard. You can hear the cicadas in the trees. It was really loud.

Like I said, it was hot and we didn't find much shade, so we didn't stay very long. Cooler weather is coming and I'm looking forward to longer outings and visiting more new places.

Sunday musings

Here it is Sunday night, and I haven't written my Sunday Musings yet. I was going to write about Blogpaws, but so many other pals have written about it that I don't know what to add, especially since they all write better than I do. I will say that I had a fabulous time, met some amazing and wonderful people, and learned a lot. My pictures are all in Facebook if you want to see them.

Packing for BlogPaws
BlogPaws Day 1
BlogPaws Day 2
BlogPaws Day3

This weekend I spent a lot of time at the #lakewithpetie. I had the idea that we could collect all the pictures from the weekends at the lake and make a picture book of them to sell for charity. @Petiethecat would pick the charity. I even talked to @thepetbooklady about it and she's offered to help. As usual, I got ahead of myself. I was saving the pictures people used from Twitpic and asking them if I could use them. Well I didn't think it through properly. I'd have no way of knowing what pictures were original and which were gotten from another source, or who to credit for the pictures. Also, a lot of the pictures are just too small to use. I get hold of an idea and I get a little overexcited and start running away with it. I'm nothing if not enthusiastic. MOL.

Spoke to Petie and he and his folks are ok with this project, so I'd still like to do it. I need to collect pictures from pals who have ones they want to contribute. I'd need a good size version of the pictures and assurance from the pals sending them that they own the pictures and can publish them. This way I'll know we're legal and I can give proper credit to the pals that contributed pictures.

If you have pictures to contribute to The Lake With Petie Memory Book, please send them to pumpkinpuddy@gmail.com. And remember, they have to be pictures you have the legal right to contribute. Sorry, the book won't have a picture of the alien ship cleaning up the campsite. Mulder already told me that was a borrowed picture. I'll let you all know what charity this is going to as soon as I hear from Petie. I'll know more about price and everything once I get it all figured out with the Pet Book Lady.

That's all for this week. I can't wait to get started on this project! Get your pictures in. I'd like to have the book ready in a month or so.

Update: We now have a charity. With Petie's approval, the money raised by selling the book will go to Duncan's Place Cat Sanctuary.

Pet Gear AT3 Stroller Review

My pals, you've all heard me talk about my stroller that I love so much. I decided it's long past time I did a proper product review of it. The stroller I have is the Pet Gear AT3. The link is to the latest version of the stroller. Mine is the previous version. Here I am sleeping in it. I love sleeping in it.

Mom picked this one in particular after reading about at least three dozen different ones. She picked this one because it's very tall, about 40" when it's unfolded. This was important to mom because she's pretty tall for a lady. She also wanted one with big tires so we could go where there's mulch and hardpack and not have to stay on sidewalk. It also has a basket underneath for stuff, a bad weather cover, and a tray for drinks. You can see the basket and the tray in the picture. You can also see that the back opens for getting in and out. The front does too, but I don't have a picture of that. I always go in and out the back. It comes with a nice pad to make it comfy, but mom put my fleecy bed in it cause I'm partial to my fleecy beds. MOL. But it really doesn't need it.

You can't quite tell in the picture but it has nice big all-terrain tires. Mom takes me all kinds of places like parks and stuff cause these tires will go anywhere. It also has a very comfy ride. I've been in my stroller for hours at a time without being uncomfortable. Here I am at the park near my house. It has a nice lake.

I only weigh about 8.5 pounds, but this stroller is good for pets up to 60 pounds. Mom wanted me to have lots of room to play or to bring my friends. Here I am with Treasure. He likes to ride in it, too. See how roomy it is? (The mad face is cause Mom had the flashy box in my face again. MOL)

The most important thing is this is a good company. I had a little problem with the stroller. It folds up to go in the car, and when Mom unfolded it to take me to Blogpaws, one of the screen windows tore. It happens. Every company, no matter how good their quality control is, is gonna have something go wrong sometimes with their product. What makes the difference is what they do about it. Pet Gear stood behind their product and took care of the problem. I was very impressed with that.

This is a very good stroller. It's comfy, it's sturdy, it's easy to use, and has lots of conveniences. I give it 4 paws out of 5. It lost one paw because the instructions weren't very good and the tray was very difficult to put on. Mine doesn't have a strap inside to hook my harness to either, but I read that the new ones do. I would recommend this stroller to anyone who's looking for a stroller for their pet.

Please Purray for Inigo Flufflebum

My poor furriend Inigo is very sick. You can read about it in his bloggy Update on Inigo. Inigo is a very sweet, handsome, good kitty (not like his naughty brofur Rumbles). He needs all our good energy to get better. Please join the pawcircle that is purraying for Inigo. Send lots of love and hugs to his humans, too.

Anipal Photo Hunt #5 BlogPaws

BlogPaws West 2010 has been amazing fun. I got to shake paws with so many of my twitter pals and I had lots of fun. I made some new friends. And I got to play with Cokie's stand-in. That's him in my stroller. I celebrated my first birthday and I got lots of attention and got petted by plenty people. And lots and lots of treats! BZTAT (Boris Kitty's  Brewski Butt's mom) gives the best scritches.

I also learned a lot. There's lots of pals in need, and there are things we can do to make a difference. I have lots of thinking to do. Mom's friend, Chris, wants to get the laws changed here in Denver that make it a felony to abuse animals. Right now it's a misdemeanor. Mom and I are gonna help her get the word out and see if we can't raise awareness better about animal abuse.

Today's the last day of BlogPaws. I'm happy because I get to spend more time with my pals, but sad because it's the last day and then they all go home. But we'll get to visit on Twitter! Maybe we'll get to go to BlogPaws 2011 if it's not too far away.

Love you all!

Edit: I do have to apologize to Human 2 and Boris Kitty, and BZTAT and Brewski Butt. Of course I know BZTAT is Brewski Butt's mom. BlogPaws was such a whirl, my little fuzzy brain got all mixed up! And Mom and I loved meeting Human 2, Edgar, and BZTAT.

BlogPaws Here We Come! A Pumpkin, George, Fred, and Treasure Adventure.

BlogPaws West 2010 starts tomorrow, so we (@GeorgeTheDuck, Fred, Treasure, and I) thought we'd better start packing so we don't have to rush in the morning. First we gathered up all the stuff I'm gonna need. It's a lot of stuff. You can't even see all of it because the toys are in the litterbox.

Of course, we all had to supervise and make sure Mom didn't forget anything. Then I checked the bag to make sure it had enough room for all my stuff. Mom, we need a bigger bag. I don't think the litter pan and litter are gonna fit, do you?

Fred, George, and Treasure insisted they could get the stuff in the bag on their own.

They really tried hard, but it was just too heavy so I helped.

I pushed so hard I needed a break, but the stuff still wouldn't go in.

We finally gave up and let Mom put the stuff in the backpack for us. Here are the guys, all ready to go!

We're all ready for BlogPaws West 2010! Mom, why aren't you packed yet? Sheesh!

Anipal Photo Hunt #4 - My Bed

This week's Anipal Photo Hunt theme is my bed, and I have lots of them. I sleep all kinds of places. It's hard for Mom to get pictures of me sleeping. I always seem to know when the flashy box is coming out and I wake up and look at her, so my eyes will actually be open in most of the pictures, but these really are my sleeping places.

I sleep on Mom's bed.

I sleep in sunpuddles.

I sleep on the sofa

Sometimes I even sleep on my cat that I'm not sure is a toy. Sometimes it hisses at me and sometimes it purrs, but only when Mom's home.

But my very bestest places to sleep are in my tent or in my stroller. They both have nice soft fleecy beds in them, and I love my fleecy beds.

'My Trip to Massychewsits' by Treasure

I had the most wonderful trip with Mom. We went to Massychewsits to see her sisters. So much happened and there are so many pictures. I put a few of them together with captions. I thought that was the best way to summarize the trip enough for a blog.

We flew in on a Wednesday and took a bus from the airport to where Mom's sister Michelle picked us up. It was pretty late, but her sons stayed up and came with her to get us at the bus station.

Thursday Mom helped her other sister, Adelle, prepare for a very special party. It's called a Bar Mitzvah and it's when a Jewish boy takes on adult responsibilities in the religion. I'm glad I'm a dog. I don't have any responsibilities at all! After all the work we went back to Adelle's house where I met her new kittens, Zoe and Chloe. They were very sweet and lots of fun. Zoe liked to hide in paper bags and chase wax paper balls. Chloe looked out the window alot.

Friday the weather was beautiful. Michelle took us to Newberryport and to the beach at Plum Island. It was a fantastic day.

Saturday was the Bar Mitzvah and Sunday was the party. I didn't get to go to those so there's no pictures in the show. I guess that was for humans only. Adelle's birthday was in a few days, so Saturday night they all went out to dinner. Without me!

Monday the weather was terrible, but that didn't stop us! We went to the aquarium with Michelle and her sons, Kfir and Liam. I got to ride in the T. It's the trains that people use to get around. It was kind of crowded so we didn't mess with the camera in there. We had lunch in Boston and met up with Adelle and her family at the aquarium. It was huge. I couldn't believe my eyes! I saw the most amazing fishes and things in there. I'd never seen anything like it before.

Tuesday we went to Rockport with Adelle, Doug, and Ian. The weather was still bad so we wore coats. Rockport is a very cute town with lots of artists and artists shops. Mom found a nice picture for her bedroom. We'll post it when it comes. It's being shipped so we don't have it yet. We walked around all day in the rain looking at stuff. We bought some fresh made salt water taffy and some other sweets. Then we went out for dinner. Mom had wanted lobster the whole week and she finally got one. Good thing to, because we went home the next day.

It was a very exciting trip. I'm so lucky I get to go so many wonderful places. And this week I get to go to Blogpaws West 2010 with Pumpkin, @GeorgeTheDuck, and Fred (Pumpkin's duckie).

Going to Blogpaws West 2010

Oh my pals this is the most exciting week. As some of you already know, I'm going to Blogpaws West 2010. I'm so excited I can hardly wait. Treasure and my duck, Fred, are also we going. But there's more! @georgetheduck is also going with me! Check out his blog: http://georgetheduck.com/2010/09/on-my-way/. He should arrive Tuesday, and Mom promised to take pictures of me and George getting to know each other. Mom's gonna take us all in my stroller. It's gonna be so cool. We're gonna take the laptop and try to blog or twitter a little each day and keep you posted.

The materials for the new roof were delivered on Friday. I'm not looking forward to the noise, but it will be nice to have it over and done with. The weather is supposed to cool down, so Mom's gonna take me to the park so we can get away from the noise for a while.

Mom and Treasure are gonna work on the pictures from the trip tomorrow and try to have Treasure's blog done by tomorrow night.

Don't forget to check out the blog hop and visit some anipals you don't already know. This week's list is on my blog hop page.

See you at Blogpaws!
