Please join me on my new blog

Adventures of a Suburban Kitty has moved to a new home over on WordPress. I even have my own domain now. I hope you'll all follow me over to my new home at http://pumpkinpuddy.com/.

Things are a little rough over there so I hope you'll excuse the way my blog looks while I learn what I'm doing. I also still have to go through all my old posts and make sure all the links work. Since there are over 100 posts to go through, this will take a while. Please be patient with me while I learn the ropes.

See you over at http://pumpkinpuddy.com/!

My blog is moving!

I really love blogger. Really. It's simple and straightforward and lets me blog without too much fuss. I can't do anything fancy, but I don't need to. With the introduction of Google+, Google has taken on an anti-user attitude lately. This makes me very very sad. They're insisting that all users must use real names and be real people. Well, I may be using my real name, but I'm a kitty and they don't seem to like that. Google is starting to suspend accounts of users that aren't using real names, so I'm working on moving my stuff over to Word Press before my account gets suspended. Word Press doesn't seem to care that I'm a cat.

It's gonna take me a while to get everything over there and working properly. I'd appreciate any advice I can get from others who've already been through this process. The automatic import only brought in the titles of the blogs and the names of the commentors, but no content. so this is gonna take a while. I'll let you know when it's ready. In fact, I may do something very special to launch my new site!

There's gonna be some changes at the new site. One of them is that I'm starting to carry advertising. I know we all are kind of tired of ads everywhere, but I still think I have to do this. The money from the ads is where I get my money to donate to #pawpawty and #nipclub charities, Duncansplace.org, and all the other places I donate. I've been doing sponsered tweets for a while, but that's not enough money. So I'm finding ways to carry paid ads on my site. Some will be banners on the web site. Others will be in the form of a blog entry. I hope you'll visit my advertisers. The more successful ads on my site are, the more I'll make for animal charities.

That's it for this Sunday. Have a good week everyone!

Edit: Some of you don't know what I'm talking about. Google+ is Google's latest attempt at social networking. They're insisting that anyone using Google+ use their real name and be able to prove it's their real name. They're suspending accounts for people using pseudonyms. They're not just suspending the Google+ account, but blocking people from accessing anything they have in Google. A friend of mom's has already had this done.

I've decided not to wait and see what happens. I've downloaded all my Google info (photos, contacts, posts, etc.), backed up my blog, and am moving my blog to Word Press. Once I've successfully done that, I'm going to register my own domain and change my  email, too.

Personally, I think Google is being very shortsided. Google was the most user friendly integrated system out there. That's why I jumped at using Google+ the week it was introduced. I think Google+'s best chance at competing in the social networking world is to be what the users want. If it's going to be as restrictive as Facebook and start treating us as product to be sold to advertisers rather than as the consumers, I think this will eventually come back to bite them in the butt.

I was so excited about Google+. Now I wish I hadn't signed up for it and sent out invites to others.. I'm not sure I would be as at risk of losing access to everything I have in Google if I had not jumped on the Google+ bandwagon. I don't know how long the process will take as I'm having problems with the transfer. I'll keep you posted on the change and I'll keep blogging here until I either finalize the transfer process or lose access to my account. Sorry if I've been a little long-winded, but I'm not sure I could have explained this more concisely.

Evie Goes to a Rock Concert

Remember a couple of weeks ago I said Evie had a big adventure coming up? Well, she went to see the band Chicago at Red Rocks Amphitheatre! They were playing with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra.

Red Rocks is absolutely amazing. It has to be the most beautiful place on earth to hear a concert. And Evie got to go there. There's not much else to say about it with words. Pictures are the best way, so here's lots of them.
Waiting in line with Mom's friends

The view from Red Rocks

Me & Mom

See the stage behind me?

The theatre is carved right out of the rocks. It's very beautiful.

We got to see Chicago. They were pawsome.

I wish you could hear them. I tried to record the show, but it came out terrible.

The view from way up high in the seats.

Lights on the rocks.

So that was Evie's adventure. Pretty amazing! I wish I could go to a rock concert. Until next time!

Lainey's Pawtique Virtual Roadtrip

Happy Caturday. It's been a while since I did a caturday blog, but I got something special to do this week. I'm participating in the Lainey's Pawtique & Bakery road trip!

Here are me & EK eating our special roadtrip cookies.

You can't see the cookies cuz our fat heads are in the way. MOL. They were quite nommy.

I'm supposed to tell you something about myself. Well, it's a roadtrip so the first thing you gotta know is where I am. I live right near the Denver International Airport. It's great cuz I can watch the planes flying. And amazingly enough, we don't get much airport noise or stink. It's pretty cool.

I love to look out our windows. We have open space behind the house and I love to watch the birds and and bunnies. But you know that already. In fact, I'm having a real hard time coming up with stuff that you don't already know about me either from Twitter or my blog! Maybe I should pretend you don't know me at all and just tell you about me.

My littermate and I were found in a trailer park by Mom's friend, Chris. Chris kept my brofur and gave me to Mom. I think I got the better end of the deal cuz there's less cats here to share with so I get more attention. I'm also the one that gets to blog and tweet the most. My litter brofur's name is Ringo and you can find him on Facebook.

I have a blue stroller and love to go adventuring in it with Mom. We don't go very far though cuz I won't drink when I'm in the stroller, so Mom doesn't like to keep me out too long or go out when it's hot.

After I lived with Mom about a year, she brought home two kittens, EK & Candy. That was almost a year ago, and we're getting along pretty good. I pretend not to like EK, but we actually play together a lot.

Candy recently figured out she can get on top of the kitchen cabinets. Check this out!

She looks pretty proud of herself up there!

Colorado is a great place to live. We get all 4 seasons so it's perfect if you like change. Bad weather usually doesn't stick around too long. It's also great cuz there's so much to see and do. We got museums, zoos, theaters, orchestras, botanic gardens, parks, and any other kind of amusement a city person would like. We also have some of the best outdoor stuff you could want - hiking, biking, skiing, beautiful scenery, horseback riding, rafting, ballooning - you name it, we got it.

Hope you enjoyed your visit! Don't forget to look for Lainey's Pawtique on Facebook and see more stops on the roadtrip.

It's a blog hop today! Join the fun.

Lazy Summer

I been lazy this summer about blogging. It's just too hot to think, even with the a/c on. MOL. But I gotta show you a couple of awards that I got.

First, I got this from @pandafur over at http://pandafur.blogspot.com/

Now, I've won this award before from my pal @mariodacat, so you all will have to forgive me if I don't do another list. But I would like to pass it on to someone I think is very deserving but I'm pretty sure hasn't won it already. That's my pal @BadAndy_KityKat. He just had this amazing #CarniePawty that I had a really wonderful time at. He worked furry hard to make it a so much fun for efurryone, and I think he deserves an award for all his hard work. So Andy, it's yours! You have to tell us 7 things about you we probably don't know, and then pass the award on to pals you think deserve it.

Speaking of @BadAndy_KityKat, he gave me this pawsome certificate for running the concession at #CarniePawty for a while. I had such a good time doing it, that I'm looking forward to next year to do it again! Here's the certificate:

I can't wait to put this on my fun stuff tab! I haven't had anything new to add there for a while.

I haven't been out for any walks or been in my Kritter Kondo cuz first we had thunderstorms everyday, and now it's just too hot, so I got no adventures to tell you about. It's been so hot since it stopped raining that even the bird tv's been boring and the bunnies just lie around in the shade. Evie's got an adventure coming up though, so I'll have that to tell you about soon.

Stay cool furriends! *hugs*

Can you help Daffy of @NoCryBabyDogs?

From card designed by Daffy's mom

My furriends, I know we give a lot of money to a lot of causes. Well, now one of our own dear dear pals is the one who needs help. Daffy's mom, Ingrid, is sick and can use not just our love and prayers, but whatever pennies and nickels and dimes we can scrape together. I hope Ingrid doesn't get too mad at me for doing this, but I love them and want to help.

Ingrid has vertigo. I know what this is cuz my mom gets a milder form of it. It makes you so sick and nauseous and dizzy you don't even want to get up. At its worst, you can't work. You can't take care of yourself. You can't even stand up without falling. Mom's is real mild and she says it's the worst sickness she's ever had, and she's had whooping cough and pneumonia and all kinds of other things. She can't even imagine how bad it is for Ingrid.

It takes lots and lots of green papers to take care of yourself when you have bad vertigo. You need special medicine and someone to come take care of you. But you're too sick to get any green papers. That's where we, the anipal community, come in.

Our pal @Mariodacat has put up a chip in on his blog, Mario's Meowsings. If you have any green papers to spare, please go to the chipin. I know the goal Mario set has already been met, but I also know those green papers won't last very long. I'd like to see us collect double what the goal was.

Another way you can help is to go to Ingrid's and Daffy's shop on Etsy, http://www.etsy.com/shop/nocrybabydogs. Ingrid sells beautiful cards there. I'd be very surprised if you didn't find something you like.

Another thing you can do is if you haven't gotten your copy of "Summer at the Lake with Petie", go buy it now. All proceeds from the sales through Labor Day will go to help Ingrid and Daffy. You can get the book here: http://www.blurb.com/bookstore/detail/1706628. I know at the book site it says the proceeds will go to Duncan's Place Cat Sanctuary, but I'm sure they won't mind if I detour some of the proceeds to help someone who's done so much for the anipal community.

We're so generous with those we don't know. Let's see how generous we can be for one of our own!
